Can you help me? I'm a French Canadian and this summer I'm going to Minnesota for a wedding. We plan to stop one day in Wisconsin for a brewery visit in Green Bay, Milwaukee, La Crosse or any other place, but we're looking for a bilingual visit if that's possible.

-- Pierre Leroux

New Glarus Brewing
County Road West & Highway 69
P.O. Box 328
New Glarus, WI
53574
608-527-5850; fax: 608-527-5855

I have been a beer lover for the past twenty years. Recently I discovered that I had an allergy to alcohol that was affecting my liver function. My doctor suggested that I try some of the alcohol free or "near beers" that are now available. Unfortunately my selection is limited to the grocer's shelf (Excel and O'Doul's -- yeech!). Would you know if there is a listing of near beer distributors for Canada? If not perhaps you might have an idea that might save my tastebuds.

-- Greg Bierbaum

You might like to try Tourtel (from Kronenbourg of France), Birell (from Hurlimann of Switzerland, but brewed under licence in North America), Ontario's Upper Canada Point Nine, or Clausterhaller from Germany. However, these are the best of a generally bad lot, as far as I'm concerned, so I'm afraid that I don't have any remarkably good news for you. Sorry.

I am trying to find a contact for Iron City beer from Pittsburgh. If you can help please e-mail an address or telephone number

-- Michael Koetsier

Iron City is brewed by Pittsburgh Brewing. Contact them at 412-682-7400.
