December 6 - 8, 2002 - Portland, Oregon

Portland Holiday Beer Festival

Location: Pioneer Square - 701 SW Sixth Ave (between Yamhill and Morrison Streets)

The Holiday Ale Festival celebrates the release of the region's craft-brewed seasonal ales. The beers featured at the event are produced by 24 of the region's premier craft brewers and are created specifically to bring warmth and cheer to the holiday season. Highlights include an on-site food court; craft vendors; seasonal background music; and one of the largest decorated Christmas trees in the nation.

Hours: noon to 10:00 p.m. Friday; 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday; noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday
Admission: A 2002 souvenir mug is required for tasting beer and costs $3. Patrons pay $3 for each mug of beer or $1 for a 4-ounce taste. This is a cash bar - no tokens will be sold or accepted

December 6 - 7, 2002 - Carlsbad, California

6th Annual Strong Ale Festival

Location: Pizza Port Brewery & Restaurant

The Strong Ale Festival this year will feature over 70 different strong ales. The requirement for each beer is that it be at least 8%alcohol by volume, and contenders will come primarily from California, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, and beyond. Each patron will get to vote for their favorite beer and the most popular beers will be awarded first, second, and third place.

Hours: 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm Friday; 11:00 am to 11:00 pm Saturday
Admission: $15.00 admission for a glass, program, and 4 x 4 ounce tastes. Additional tastes are $1.00

December 14 - 15, 2002 - Essen, Belgium

Kerstbierfestival (Christmas Beer festival)

Location: Parish Center Essen Statie

Over 85 Belgian Christmas and winter beers, served in 150 ml glasses, with nine on draught and foods available that have been prepared with the Christmas beers. Free token for OBP, PINT & CAMRA members.

Hours: 2:00 onward Saturday; noon onward Sunday
