Selected Events (from The Real Beer Page's events database, and beyond!) - February 2004
Regular readers of the World of Beer Events page will know that we normally post only festivals taking place during the current month. This month, however, we're making an exception for what promises to be an exceptional weekend of events in Belgium, so that everyone who is able might have the time to plan their trip.

March 5, 2004 - Eizeringen, Belgium
The Night of Large Thirst
After the Belgian lambic café 'In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst' ("Insurance Against the Event of Large Thirst") experienced a fire on Christmas day, 2003, a movement arose to hold some kind of reconstruction benefit. As it happened, however, the café ended up needing the money less than the country's beseiged lambic brewers, so this small town lambic festival will now benefit the brewers rather than the Grote Dorst. Needless to say, there will be plenty of lambic to be had, as well as other beers on the café's menu, and a silent auction will also be held.
Location: Frans Baetensstraat 45, 1750 Eizeringen (Lennik) Hours: From 7:00 pm onward (the café closes when the last person leaves) Admission: None Web1: http://www.goes.com/leftovers/jeremy/events/ZBFweekend04.html Web2: http://dorst.eizeringen.tripod.com/english/index.html
March 6 and 7, 2004 - Sint-Niklaas, Belgium
Zythos Bier Festival
The 24 Hours of Beer is back! In a new location and with a new name, but the same format and the same magnificent selection of artisanal Belgian beers. More than 150 beers from 50+ brewers will be on hand, and with tasters able to come and go as they like over the course of a 12-hour period each day, there will be ample opportunity to sample your fill. In the past, this has been quite simply one of the best beer festivals in the world.
Location: Staadsfeestzaal, Sint-Niklaas Admission: None; tokens are 1 euro each, one token per sample Hours: (March 6) noon - midnight; (March 7) 10:00 am - 10:00pm Web: www.zbf.be Email: info@zythos.
