Your Comments, Criticisms and Contributions - May 2001

I found your web site and enjoyed it. I don't know if you have the time to answer individual questions, but I'm looking for advice on a home beer dispenser. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a lower priced unit (summit) or a more expensive one (True or beverage Air). I was told that the commercial units are probably less energy efficient and overkill for the home user. Thanks
-- John Dent

Thank you for your comments and compliment on World of Beer. As for your question, I would say that your dispense system choice should depend upon how quickly you tend to go through a keg or canister of beer. If you regularly have a container tapped for over a week or two, I would suggest that your beer will benefit from a better dispenser driven with quality Beer Gas. Otherwise, a cheaper system will probably work fine for you.

murphy's is brewed in Holland... by Heineken.
-- Devotchkagrrl

Actually, the Murphy's brewery is owned by Heineken, but the beer is still brewed in Cork, Ireland.

Stephen: Sorry to bug you again but, do you know anything about the rumored coming of Gordon Biersch to Toronto? I've had their great German style beers in visits to Las Vegas and would LOVE to see them so close to home (Buffalo). The only problem is the silly Ontario rule about brewpubs selling beer off premises.
The rumor of their coming has been in Great Lakes Brewing News but Ian Bowering claims to know nothing now.
-- Al Besser

Like Ian, I caught the press release a while back announcing Biersch's intent to come into Canada. I even followed up with an email info request. But I've heard nothing and so have no idea where they are in their growth plans. Sorry I can't offer more info.

I've heard that beer can be used as a hair conditioner, any other wacky uses?
-- Sandcunha

I hear that it's pretty good to drink, too.
