Question: I was wondering if you could tell me what you think the significance beer plays in Canadian and American nationalism? If you believe beer does play a role in nationalism, what are the contrasts between the two countries? Finally, which country has better beer? Thank you for your time.
- Benjamin Soo

At one point in time, I would have said that beer was a point of great difference between Canada and the US, but I think that has lessened considerably within the last decade or so, notwithstanding "Joe Canadian" (a nationalistic Molson ad). Still, some Canadians do tend to see our beer as a source of some nationalistic pride.

As for which country has better beer, well, there are close to 200 breweries in Canada and over 1500 in the States, so generalizations like that simply are not possible. Put a Fin du Monde against a Busch and I'll take the Canadian beer; place a Molson Canadian against an Anchor Steam Beer and I'll pick the American.

Good Morning,
I had a great time at the event last night at the Flying Saucer in Nashville. Thanks and come back.
- Patrick Corby

Thank you, Patrick. I, too, had a great time touring the Flying Saucer beer bars in Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina, and the reception was always warm and very kind, even from the Bud reps in Raleigh!

Do you what ever became of Ken Lindstrom (last name?) who owned Wizard Brewing in San Leandro, CA? I always loved their beer but I guess they went out of business a couple of years ago. I have often wondered if he is making beer somewhere else.
- Mike Condie

I have no idea, Mike. Anyone out there know what has become of Ken?
