I own a bottle of Samuel Adams Millennium. It is of a limited bottling of 3,000 bottles and mine is numbered 438/3000. It is signed by Jim Koch. Do you know anything about this beer?
- Tigger
The Millennium was released in late 1999 and is a very strong ale. At one point, it was considered the world's strongest beer, until the Boston Beer Company exceeded even its 20% alcohol with their 24% Utopias. If you're asking about its value, I'd suggest checking eBay. However, if your question pertains more to its taste, then I'd recommend cellaring it until at least 2010 in a cool, dark place.
I recently received a piece of brewery memorabilia and wonder is you have any idea of its origins. It is a 5" diameter circular plaque made of plaster or something similar and painted bronze. There is a hook embedded in the back for hanging. I understand that Molson's operated as Th. & Wm. Molson in the mid 1800s and wonder if this is contemporary to that period or is a more recent reproduction of an older object. If you don't know I'd appreciate you sending the attached photo to anyone who might.

I'm no expert in this, but I'd say from the photo that it looks like a reproduction of a Molson coin from the early years. (Molson did at one time have its own bank and minted its own money.) You might have better luck, though, at breweriana.com, or going straight to the source at Molson.
I am interested in Canadian beers mostly. If you have anything, that would be great!

May I humbly suggest my book, The Great Canadian Beer Guide, 2nd Edition? Lots of Canadian beer info there, and you can buy it at most major bookstores.

I am a great beer lover, but I hope this newsletter is only for this site's use, and not given to others. I get too much spam already. Thanks
