Your Comments, Criticisms and Contributions - June 2006
I received quite a few emails this month about the Anheuser-Busch product, Tequiza. Evidently, with the weather warming, people are turning their tastes to the seven-year-old tequila-flavoured brew, and finding none available. A couple of examples:
I would like to know why I can not find Tequiza beer any more in any store I go into in NYC.....I really enjoyed the taste...did they take it off the market? Even restaurants don't sell it.

Re: Tequiza, I come from Canada, where AB refused to distribute this wonderful product. So every time we head Stateside, we go pick up some Tequiza. I hate coolers as they are all so sickeningly sweet, but the light, lime taste of Tequiza is fantastic on a hot day.
Last week we spent a few days in Phoenix, and at the many liquor and grocery outlets we visited, all insisted this product is no longer being manufactured. What a shame! Not only was it a great drink on a hot day, it was low carb as well! AB missed out on a great ad campaign with that info.

Fortunately for Melissa and others, Janet soon chimed in with a response to her own quandary
Turns out Tequiza IS still in production, but the Phoenix distributor (Hensley) won't carry it. I know it has not been the big seller AB was hoping for, but I also think AB has not marketed the product correctly. I adore Tequiza! Happily, we can still get it in our BP station in Pt. Roberts, Washington.
I have been surprised by the wealth of negative comments I see in online reviews of this product...we stock our boat with Tequiza in the summer and everyone who tries it (most are Canadians, so the product is new to them) likes it.
Regards,
Janet
That resolved, on to more conventional inquiries.
- Hi,
I am desperately trying to obtain Duchesse de Bourgogne in New York City. As far as I have found, though, there isn't a bottle or a tap of the stuff in the entire city. So I was wondering - do you know anywhere that I might be able to order it direct? Anything from a single bottle to a case of it would be appreciated. Many thanks!
- Giles
- The importer of the Duchesse is D&V International. Contact them through their website at www.specialtybeer.com
- Please take the time to respond to me. I am looking for a place here in Southern California that sells Budvar, do you know of any?
- Patricia
- Fear not, Patricia, since I'm sure Czechvar, as Budweiser Budvar is known in the U.S., is available in your neck of the woods. The importer is Distinguished Brands Int'l. Contact them through their website at www.distinguished-brands.com.
