Mr. Beaumont,
Can you tell me anything more about the whiskey tasting event?
Thank you,
Richard Gorman
Richard is referring to a whisk(e)y and cheese tasting I will be hosting in Toronto, which was leaked in a news story at The Globe and Mail during February. After some discussion of dates, the time has been set for the night of April 30, beginning at 6:30 pm at Coupe Space, 998 Queen Street East. Hi Stephen, my name is Dave Davey, and I am from New Brunswick, Canada. I recently fell in love with Molson Canadian beer, after drinking the harder stuff for years. It is the only beer that allows me to wake up without a headache.. I am interested in trying to brew the same beer at home, and I was wondering if you had a recipe to match this beer?
I don't have a recipe for Canadian, or any other beer, for that matter, since I'm not a brewer myself. I can tell you, however, that the brand is most likely brewed with a healthy percentage of adjunct grains and to high gravity, before it is watered back down post-fermentation to 5% alcohol by volume. My suggestion would be to contact a local homebrew club - you can look for one at http://www.homebrewers.ca - and see if any members might have a clone recipe.
Dear Sir:
I figured I'd mention Nigerian Guinness in the subject so you could just hit delete. I am sure you get questions about this beer all the time. Here's mine: Is Nigerian Guinness available anywhere in the United States?
I just returned from London where I met a bunch of guys who have played on the Guinness Music Tour. They talked on and on about Nigerian Guinness (sweet and strong) and now I want to try it. I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I suspect my chances are dim.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Jim Neel
I'm afraid less than dim, Jim. Nigerian Guinness, which is brewed with sorghum, simply doesn't exist in North America, although I've heard reports of sightings in Europe. That won't really help you, though...
