What Steve Says:This was my first book, and in looking back on it three years after the publication date, I am amazed at how much of the material is still relevant. Sure, a lot of breweries have opened since the spring of 1994, and some have also closed, but the great majority of those mentioned and reviewed in the Guide are still up and running. So much for the volatility of the industry! At some point in the future, I may update the Guide. For now, however, I believe that this still remains the most comprehensive textbook on the Canadian beer market as a whole. There are good regional guides -- Jamie MacKinnon has just come out with one focussed upon the Great Lakes region, for example, and I understand that Nick Hamilton's new epistle to the beers of Quebec is quite good -- but I don't know of anything that covers the entire nation more thoroughly than does the Great Canadian Beer Guide, even after all this time.
