Meet David Schultz, General Manager of WOB Bar & Kitchen in Augusta, GA!

Meet David Schultz! Nearly 10 years ago, he stopped by World of Beer Pooler—and never left. Today, he’s still loving the vibe, the freedom to get creative, and of course, the beer. We caught up with him to talk shop, share beer recs, and dive into what makes WOB feel like home.

Can you tell us a little about your background and how you found your way to World of Beer?

After more than 18 years of managing kitchens for Outback Steakhouse, I received an invitation from a former employee who had transitioned into a franchise consultant for WOB to visit the new Pooler location.  I was impressed by the concept and their growing food program. Discussions commenced, and shortly thereafter, I made the decision to join the team as a kitchen manager.

How long have you been with World of Beer, and what roles have you held here?

September 2025 will make 10 years.

What’s your favorite part about being a manager at World of Beer?

The fun work atmosphere and the opportunity to engage with customers here is significantly different from my experiences in previous jobs. Overall, the aspect of inclusion was a new experience for me; whenever I had ideas, WOB would encourage me to give it shot.

What’s your go-to beer recommendation for a first-time guest?

If this guest is new to craft beer, Kona Bigwave. If they are into craft beer but new to WOB this answer would change. I typically get a feel for what the customer likes and go from there. I check our draft and bottle list daily and I’ll have a go to in every style we offer. Offering samples and exploring the menu together creates an experience I enjoy better than having a single answer or suggestion.

How would you describe the culture at World of Beer?

“Cheers” a place where we can come together with a sense of belonging and shared appreciation for quality.

What makes your location unique?

Our Location is almost directly across the street from Augusta National Golf club, Home to The Masters Golf Tournament.

Any advice for someone who wants to grow into a leadership role in this industry?

If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right!
