Meet Chris Socha, Senior Managing Partner of WOB Bar & Kitchen!

At WOB Bar & Kitchen, every location has a story—and behind each one is a passionate leader helping bring the experience to life. We sat down with one of our Senior Managing Partners to talk about their journey, favorite brews, and what makes WOB such a special place to work and visit.

Can you tell us a little about your background and how you found your way to WOB?

I’ve been working in restaurants since I was 16, where I really developed my skills and passion for the industry. I started as a fry cook and worked my way up to Managing Partner. In 2018, I made the move to WOB and haven’t looked back since.

How long have you been with WOB, and what roles have you held?

I joined WOB as an Assistant General Manager at our Richmond location. Over time, I grew into my current role as Managing Partner in Richmond, which I’ve held for the past three years. In addition to being the Managing Partner in Richmond, I also am the Senior Managing Partner and oversee five other locations.

What’s your favorite part about being a manager at WOB?

No two days are ever the same, and that’s what makes it so exciting. From new beers and events to working alongside an incredible team here in Richmond, there’s always something fresh happening.

What’s your go-to beer recommendation for a first-time guest?

I always recommend Triple Crossing Falcon Smash. It’s a Richmond favorite and the number one IPA locally. It is definitely a must-try for anyone visiting for the first time.

How would you describe the culture at WOB?

The culture is one of my favorite parts of WOB. It’s welcoming, supportive, and resilient. Our Richmond team has built something really special. We lift each other up and continue to grow together while welcoming new faces into the WOB family.

What makes your location unique?

Our Richmond location really offers something for everyone. Whether you’re coming in with family, meeting friends for a cocktail, or catching the game, we create an atmosphere that fits your vibe. Great food, a wide variety of drinks, and a flexible, welcoming environment make it a go-to spot for any occasion.

What are you most excited about for the future of WOB?

I’m excited to see WOB continue to grow. On a personal level, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch my team grow. Both of my current managers were promoted from within, and seeing their development over the years has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career.

Any advice for someone who wants to grow into a leadership role in this industry?

Always keep pushing yourself to learn more. This industry is constantly evolving, and that’s what makes it exciting. Never get complacent, there’s always something new to learn about leadership, business, and your community. Stay passionate about the bigger picture, and success will follow.
